Sean Callahan, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Sean specializes in working with children by using child friendly research based frameworks, video modeling, play therapy, and creative modalities. Sean has extensive experience with addressing problematic behavior and trauma informed practices. Sean believes that all behavior has a communicative purpose. Sean also has extensive experience with social communication and improving social skills, and running social skills groups, emotional regulation groups, and cognitive-behavioral therapy groups. Sean has worked with children and adolscents with Autism, ADHD, Depression, Selective-Mutism, and other mood based disorders. Sean believes that the relationship is at the core of the therapeutic process, and has strong and creative ability to build meaningful rapport to help the change process and help clients grow.

In addition to assisting children and adolescents, Sean has experience with providing behavioral consultation and creating structures for parents at home to promote self-regulation and addressing problematic behaviors. Sean has over 10 years of experience working in public schools and can help parents navigage school concerns such as IEP and 504 accommodations, school based advocacy needs, and building collaboration between families and schools.

Educational Background: Sean received his Bacehlors degrees in Psychology and Music from Benedictine University in 2012. During this time, he interned as a Music Therapist at Little Friends in Naperville and shortly after began working at a clinical based inpatient, residential facility for 7 years as a Recreation Therapist. Sean went on to graduate school at Dominican University to obtain his Masters in Social Work and his Type 73 (PEL Licenses) to become a School Social Worker in the area. In 2020, he went back to school at Concordia University to get his Masters in Adminstration and Type 75 (Principal/Adminstration licenses). Sean is currently a School Social Worker in the area.
