Child & Adolescent Services:
We provide therapy to preschool, school-aged children, and adolescents.  We have diverse experience working with children with anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ related challenges, peer relational difficulties, behavioral and regulatory difficulties, parent-child conflict, and school-related problems.  Collaboration with parents and treating professionals (i.e., pediatricians, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and school staff) are important components of our work with young clients.  Therapists are skilled in working together with schools for purposes of consultation and communication during IEP/504 evaluations to address academic and social needs.  Our goal is to enhance emotional functioning, self-care, and well-being of children and adolescents by strengthening their inner happiness, self-esteem, and capacity to make good, constructive choices, as well as improving social and family functioning by fostering the desire and capacity to be involved in positive relationships and helping build social support networks.  Adolescent Therapy – Working with teens we will begin a process of building a foundation of effective communication tools, self-awareness, respect for self and others, and an increased understanding of health ways to respond to life situations.
Adult Therapy:
One-on-one therapy to address and resolve various concerns ranging from temporary problems to complex or life impacting challenges. We assist in developing insight and working through emotional, behavioral, and/or social issues in a manner that increases individual’s self-awareness and overall well-being. During the course of therapy, we provide a safe and supportive environment where they aid in helping clients find constructive ways of coping with life’s stressors.
Family Therapy:
The unique space of family counseling allows you and your family to share experiences and set common goals, as well as experience improved communication, healing connection and lasting change. Family counseling brings about the change that is necessary for all members of the family to heal and grow alongside one another. In session, we explore core issues that may impact you and your child. We work towards coming to a better understanding and meeting the needs of each family member. Practical goal setting, effective strategies, and family collaboration can lead to genuine results for your family.
Parenting Support:
Parents are most interested in raising happy, healthy children prepared to succeed in life and to become competent, caring, responsible adults.  Parents also hope to enjoy the rich experience of being a caregiver. Our team at AGPA works with parents to find parenting strategies to manage the challenges in the home environment in a manner that matches their parenting style and addresses the social-emotional developmental needs of their children.  We also provide strategies for parents to learn how to communicate effectively and reduce stress when overwhelmed by the day-to-day parenting demands. These life goals are far more attainable with the availability of support and nonjudgmental approach offered at AGPA.
Couples:
Couples counseling addresses various issues and struggles that may arise as two people strive to attain and maintain satisfaction within the relationship. The objective of couples counseling aims to increase empathetic understanding, improve effective communication, and provide opportunities for mutual growth. We assist couples in negotiating and navigating through these obstacles by looking into patterns of the relationship and help couples set realistic goals.
Groups/Workshops:

Throughout the year we offer different groups on specific topic areas for children and parents.  Groups and Workshops can be beneficial for individuals, as it allows them to engage with others dealing with similar problems.  Children groups include topics such as impulse control, social skills, emotional regulation, and art therapy. In these groups, children are learning how to cooperate and problem solve with others. This opportunity gives them a chance to increase development in their interpersonal and relating skills, qualities that are imperative to emotional, behavioral, and learning success.

Parenting Workshops include topics such as, sibling rivalry, building positive self-esteem, increasing positive social skills, handling tough social challenges/bullying, setting limits around technology, managing anxiety/worry, general parenting skills. Parent Workshops offer practical skills and social support from fellow parents experiencing similar challenges.  Topics are selected based on needs communicated in the community.
